Leap Castle - The Most Haunted Castle

Leap Castle
Leap Castle - some say is the most haunted castle in the world.  And is now known as the Bloody Chapel" because of a shocking murder that occurred there.

Leap Castle has a trubulent and bloody history, used as a fortress, home and tomb.  Leap Castle is home to many fascinating and sometime horrific spirits.  Built in the early 1500's, it has been the center of much bloodshed and brutal attrocities.

There are SO many spirits/ghosts that haunt this beautiful old castle.  The reputation of being haunted is so strong that local people avoid it at night.

The Bloody Chapel
The Bloody Chapel is home of many spirits and people passing the castle have reported bright light streaming out of the upper windows.  Strange smells of rubber have also been reported during peoples visit to the upper hall.

Another ghost there is known at The Priest.  Story is brother fought brother to gain Chieftainship. One brother murdered his brother, a priest whilst performing a mass in the upper hall of the Castle.

The Lady in Red
One of the spirits encountered has been described as a very tall woman clothes in a red dress.  She has been seen carrying a dagger in her hand, raised in a menacing manner.  A strange luminescence is seen radiating within her.

Two young girls have also been seen at Leap Castle.  They are mainly seen playing in the main hall and running up the stairwell.  They are believed to have lived in the castle during the 1600's.

I think the most scary of the spirits here at Leap Castle is known as "The Elemental".  It is an entity that is shrouded in mystery and intrigue.  The story goes that Mildred Darby (the Darby's inhabited Leap Castle from 1642 until it's burning in 1922) dabbled in the occult.  Her activities focused on seances and automatic writing.  Some think that it was her dabbling that either awoke or summoned the Elemental.  It was around that time that the horrific discovery in the Oubliette, three cartloads of bones, approximately 150 bodies were found.  It was shortly after that that Mildred Darby had her terrifying encounter with the Elemental.

There are so many more stories to share about the ghosts that still linger at Leap Castle. These are just a few.  Join us on our Haunted Ireland Tour and make your own experiences.  Take pictures, get a "feel" for the entities that are still here.  What will you see?  Will one of them contact you?
