Ireland Tour Itinerary - October 2014

Day 1 

Kinnitty Castle Hotel

Travel to Birr, County Offaly and spend 2 nights in the haunted Kinnitty Castle haunted by the 11th Earl of Kildare.  Visit Clonony Castle haunted by several ghosts, one that is seen at the top of the tower wearing old fashioned clothes.  Enjoy a "Welcome" dinner at Kinnitty Castle to meet your fellow travelers.

Day 2

Charleville Castle

After breakfast you will travel to Leap Castle said to be the most haunted castle in the World.  And the most terrifying creature known as the "It" or the "Elemental".  Then you will tour Charleville Castle that is said to be haunted by the youngest daughter (Harriett) of the 3rd Earl.  She's been caught on camera and heard singing and laughing throughout the castle.  

Day 3

St. Canice's Cathedral

Travel to Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel where you'll spend 2 nights and explore the beautiful abbeys such as St. Canice's Cathedral & Round Tower and Kells Priory.  Several ghosts have been seen roaming the grounds as well as the organist's cottage. Enjoy a delicious meal at Kytelers Inn; the original owner of this Inn was Dame Alice Kyteler who was accused of casting evil spells on her four husbands, running a brothel and being a witch. Today's owner believes Alice's spirit still resides with the 740 year old walls.

Day 4

Kilkenny Castle

Kilkenny Castle  is one of the most visited buildings in Ireland.  Is it haunted?  Ghostly activity is found close to the dungeon where a number of people are thought to have died.  An electronic counter was placed in the Parade Tower and after hours it indicated an extra 100 people a night walk the tower halls.  Also visit Jerpoint Abbey one of the finest monastic sites in all of Ireland giving you an authentic glimpse into the ways of medieval monastic life.

Day 5

Kilmainham Gaol / Jail

Travel to the city of Dublin where you will tour Kilmainhham Gaol (Jail) one of the largest unoccupied (by humans anyway) gaols in Europe. Several incidents proving the existence of ghosts were experienced by those living here.  Sometimes children have been known to pause in sheer fright refusing to step inside the jail. Then tour Glasnevin Cemetery where one constant ghost has been seen. It is a black Newfoundland dog, wandering the paths of the cemetery.  With over 1.5 million burials opening in 1832, there are many spirits that wonder this cemetery.  Tonight you will enjoy a haunted tour of Dublin given by Hidden Dublin Tours.

Day 6

Today you will travel to St. Michan's Church & Crypts where you will see five long burial vaults containing the mummified remains of many of Dublin's most influential families.  Next you will tour Malahide Castle where many unseen spirits are felt in the castle's many rooms.  One of the popular spectres is that of the son of the Baron of Galtrim.

Day 7

You last day in Dublin will be Free Time to spend exploring and shopping on your own.  This evening you will enjoy a farewell dinner at the very haunted Brazen Head Pub.

Day 8

Today, sadly you bid farewell to the Emerald Isle.
